Privacy Policy
Segue doesn't collect any personal data. There's no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and the app never connects to a server, including mine.
What stays on your device
To work, Segue saves a few things on the device you're using. They never leave it except as described under the next heading.
- Your rundowns: their names, segment titles and times, and your warning-color settings.
- A pairing code (four digits) on a device showing the timer.
- A short device label such as “iPad WHS”: the type of device plus three random letters, so a remote can tell two displays apart. It is not your device's name.
- Displays you've paired with and their codes, on a device used as a remote, so it can reconnect without asking again.
Deleting Segue deletes all of this. You can also delete a rundown in the app, or issue a new pairing code from the display.
What Segue sends, and to whom
When you use one device as a display and another as a remote, the two connect directly to each other using Apple's Multipeer Connectivity, over Wi-Fi, peer-to-peer Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. The connection is encrypted. Nothing goes through the internet or any server.
- Nearby devices running Segue can see a display's short device label (for example “iPad WHS”) so they can offer to pair with it. Nothing else is visible to them.
- The device you pair with receives the pairing code you type, and then the timer: the rundown and its segment titles, the clock, and any message you send to the stage. A device that hasn't been given the right code receives nothing.
iOS asks your permission before Segue can find devices on your local network. You can turn it off at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network; Segue then works only in “Use this device only” mode.
Purchases
Segue Pro is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; I never see your payment details, name, email or Apple Account. The app checks your purchase on the device using Apple's StoreKit.
Information Apple may share with developers
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone or iPad settings, Apple may give me anonymous crash reports and aggregate usage statistics, such as how many people installed the app. These don't identify you. You control this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
Children
Segue doesn't collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If Segue ever starts handling data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, with a new effective date at the top.
